At the "Time for Action" where David shows us how to use locators in our extensions, I kept on getting the same syntax error no matter how closely I matched my code to the example in the Guide and the example posted here.

So, I said "Screw it," and copy-pasted the example code here into my extension file and set my own code aside as a comment for future reference. Save, restart Selenium, and hey-presto, suddenly it works. I double-check MY code... and it's exactly the same. Nothing about the syntax is different at all.

I just don't understand. :(Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6890958153006612459.post-62171592657755026892011-04-22T16:53:35.836-07:002011-04-22T16:53:35.836-07:00Hello Col

I can't find any updates on the web.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10917033920880368892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6890958153006612459.post-38820438569274956962011-03-30T09:03:50.076-07:002011-03-30T09:03:50.076-07:00I've noticed the same errors too, initially th...I've noticed the same errors too, initially thought it was me so at least it looks a bit more like the text is wrong now!

I'm also using IDE (1.0.10) on FF 3.6.3.

Initial ideas:

Basic copying error - isn't the first one so is a possibility.

The IDE David appears to use is 1.0.6. Entirely possible that updates have 'broken' this functionality

the last line that attempts to invoke a checkDate function may be trying to reference a now-defunct function in js.

or that last line may be referencing itself, creating an infinite loop

I'm hoping David may already be aware of these and have some updated examples. From what i've googled so far there doesn't appear to be anything that helps.

Has anyone contacted him to find out? On the assumption that's a no, I'll do it and let you know what he says.

ColColin Piperhttp://twitter.com/#!/Pipster2knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6890958153006612459.post-22411761753782777292011-02-13T12:27:31.320-08:002011-02-13T12:27:31.320-08:00This Selenium book has lot of errors.
