The idea o...Hey Markus, thanks for the kind words.

The idea of talking about better education for testers has been something I've wanted to do for some time. One of the biggest issues I've seen is that many testers tend to get pidgeon-holed. Game testers tend to stay game testers, people who test networks tend to stay in the networking sphere. I've been an oddball in the sense that I've actually moved as a tester through a number of industries. I was surprised to find that that is not very common, at least not where I live, but it's given me some interesting viewpoints and differnet ideas and methods to work with, so I'm happy to have had the varied opportunities.

Yep, I plan to talk more about the "street vs. book" approach as the blog matures, count on it :).

--MKLMichael Larsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16180074963526979074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6890958153006612459.post-27081720478745183652010-05-07T15:43:03.428-07:002010-05-07T15:43:03.428-07:00On the mis-education part, you're well not alo...On the mis-education part, you're well not alone. There are many others that didn't get any useful lectures on testing, and needed to learn the stuff by hard on their job.

Thanks for the more complete view on your personal history. It's quite comparable to my own course. Your words raised the question about whether or not to start to write on the education topic to some more degree in the near future. A book on software testing in the real world comes to mind, just as experiences with self-education courses and the like.

On your background in musician, I got taught from Dave Hoover and Ade Oshineye in Apprenticeship Patterns that it does not matter where you come from, or where you might be going, leaving the IT for a few years, maybe, it's just relevant what you provide to the people in the community. So keep it up.Markus Gärtnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15728306418553053255noreply@blogger.com
